ARTIST BIO

Giuseppina Graziano is a contemporary abstract painter, born in Italy and based in Melbourne. With a passion for both verbal and non-verbal forms of communication since adolescence, and a formal background in foreign languages, translation and teaching, and she has developed a distinctive abstract style through a dedicated independent studio practice.

Working primarily in acrylic, Giuseppina creates multilayered paintings through a process of adding, removing and reworking paint and mixed media, guided by intuition, music and a sense of balance between freedom and structure. Her evocative and tactile work is inspired by the multifaceted nature of human experience, including emotions, memories, travels and observations of the natural world. Bold colour, expressive mark-making, dynamic lines, splatters, organic shapes, and richly layered and textured surfaces form the visual language of her expressionist style. Her work reflects her vision of art as both emotional expression and aesthetic transformation of space.

Giuseppina’s work is influenced by the controlled chaos of Pollock’s action paintings, Kandinsky’s geometric forms, and Boccioni’s sense of motion and dynamism. She interpret these concepts through intricate compositions built up with multiple layers of paint—sometimes removed, sometimes added—to create complex textures. The result is a visual rhythm that is harmonious and balanced, deliberately lacking a single focal point. This invites viewers to explore her paintings freely, finding their own focus and meaning within the artwork’s emotional intensity and visual richness.

Giuseppina’s work has been exhibited in numerous group shows across Australia, including with Gallery Elysium, Red Gallery, SOL Gallery, Brunswick Street Gallery, The Camberwell Art Show, Creative Asia Art Centre and Inner West Art Fair, as well as internationally at the San Francisco Art Fair and Budapest ArtBIAS. She has also received several international awards in juried online art exhibitions presented by Teravarna Art Gallery (LA).
